(CBS DETROIT) – Republican vice presidential candidate JD Vance returns to Michigan next week.

Vance will speak at the Northwestern Michigan Fair, located at 3606 Blair Townhall Rd. in Traverse City, on Wednesday, Sept. 25. This is Vance’s second visit to Michigan in two weeks. The Ohio senator spoke at Apple Valley Events in Sparta on Tuesday.

“Michigan is proud to be the auto capital of the world, and it is the backbone of Michigan’s economy,” the Trump-Vance campaign said in a statement. “President Donald J. Trump has demonstrated time and again that he is committed to supporting and rebuilding the auto industry, starting with boosting American manufacturing jobs.”

Vance’s visit comes hot on the heels of former President Donald Trump. city hall in Flint on Tuesday. The town hall was held at the Dort Financial Center and was moderated by Trump’s former press secretary, Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders. The discussion focused on the economy and the auto industry.

“You used to be the auto capital of the world. Today, you’re an afterthought in autos,” Trump said Tuesday as he vowed to impose tariffs on imported cars. “We’re going to bring so many auto factories to our country. You’re going to be as big or bigger than you were 50 years ago. Because (automakers) can’t do it. If they’re not willing to build the factory, we don’t want their product.”

On Thursday, Vice President and Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris participated in a campaign event in Farmington Hills alongside Oprah Winfrey. Using a format similar to her previous talk show, Winfrey hosted a discussion with celebrities, campaign organizers, and voters. The audience consisted of a few hundred people in person and virtual attendees.

Actress Meryl Streep, appearing in a video message on Thursday, asked Harris what her plan would be if she won the presidential election, and pressure is mounting to overturn the election results.

“We’re going to be ready,” Harris said Thursday. “To try to disrupt a free and fair election that the American people voted for, that was a bridge too far for many people … I think the vast majority of Americans have absolutely no tolerance for that, and they’ve seen the lies.”

Doors open at 5 p.m. for Vance’s Traverse City event, and Vance will take the stage at 7 p.m. The event is open to the public, but registration is required.
