Revere police officer resigns after OUI arrest

A Revere police officer arrested for operating under the influence and crashing into a wall last weekend has resigned, according to authorities.

24-year-old Matteo Velasquez was arrested for driving under the influence and reckless endangerment. He pleaded not guilty in court.

He resigned from the Revere Police Department on Tuesday after graduating from the academy two months ago.

On Sunday, police said Velasquez crashed into a stone retaining wall on Cushman Avenue just after 6 a.m., causing heavy damage to his vehicle. There were no reports of injuries.
