RFK Jr. reportedly makes phone calls to make an important appointment for a family member

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is making calls to push for the appointment of his daughter-in-law Amaryllis Fox Kennedy as deputy director of the CIA — while facing uncertain confirmation as secretary of Health and Human Services, Axios reported Tuesday.

Like RFK Jr., who was declared unqualified for the gig by 77 Nobel laureates, his daughter-in-law carries a bit of baggage.

She submitted the ultimately published memoir about her life as a CIA spy in 2019 without approval from the organization — an apparent no-no, NBC reported. And some former CIA officers claimed that some details of “Life Undercover: Coming of Age In The CIA” sounded bogus, according to the network.

Fox Kennedy may have sealed her father-in-law’s support by leading his independent campaign for president. She did not escape controversy there either. She drew an anonymous criticism from former campaign aides, including a source who blamed her for a mass exodus of workers. Fox Kennedy countered that “Team Kennedy lets great people come and go depending on the needs of each phase of the campaign.”

Kennedy dropped his bid for the White House and endorsed eventual winner Donald Trump, who in turn nominated the vaccine opponent for the Health and Human Services post. Trump encouraged the political scion to “get off medicine.”

RFK Jr. faces a possible uphill battle for Senate confirmation, but Fox Kennedy, apparently vying for the key intelligence post, would only need Trump’s nomination.

Kennedy’s camp did not immediately respond to HuffPost for comment.
