For fans looking for a satisfying meal after a long day or an exciting game, Rice Junky becomes a late-night haven.
Known for its flavorful bowls, the eatery has gained a following among sports fans, especially fans of the San Francisco 49ers.
Joe Yun, the Santa Clara restaurant’s manager, explains the restaurant’s unique approach to Korean cuisine.
“When you think of Korean restaurants, of course there are a lot of side dishes and good food,” Yun said. “But we think a little differently. We don’t serve many side dishes, but put everything in one bowl.”
This philosophy suits guests looking for a hearty meal or Korean drinks such as soju. Rice Junky stays open later than most Santa Clara restaurants and draws a diverse crowd, especially after games at nearby Levi’s Stadium.
“A lot of different sports fans come to visit us before and after the games, especially because we open late, until midnight,” Yun explains.
To complement the experience, the restaurant uses a robotic server to accommodate large crowds.
And it’s not just the robot server that surprises guests, but also the fact that there is room for late night munchies.
Customers like Rein Hijosa appreciate the convenience.
“By the time we get to the car, it seems like nothing else is open. So we found this place by accident. And then we really liked the food,” he said.
In addition to the culinary offering, Rice Junky immerses guests in a cultural experience, with K-pop music enhancing the atmosphere.
“We have a lot of K-pop stars in the background, and yes, we play a lot of K-pop music,” Yun added.
With its combination of vibrant flavors and lively ambiance, Rice Junky is quickly becoming a favorite spot for Santa Clara’s night owls.
