Richland County Wetlands Projects Receive H2Ohio Grants

Two Richland County H2Ohio wetlands projects are among dozens that will benefit from more than $7 million in grant funding, Gov. Mike DeWine and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources announced.

“Wetlands are a critical part of H2Ohio to improve water quality in our state,” DeWine said. “Every new wetland we create or restore builds on all the progress we’ve made through H2Ohio over the years.”

A Richland County Park District Clear Fork Mohican River Wetlands Restoration Project will receive $351,500 and a Western Reserve Land Conservancy Black Fork Oxbow Reconnection and Wetlands Restoration Project will receive $619,734.

Other new wetlands projects are located in Athens, Butler, Clark, Delaware, Franklin, Greene, Holmes, Lake and Summit counties. These projects range from wetland restoration to enriching forested stream corridors. They were selected through a competitive grant process, and H2Ohio grant awards fund up to 100% of project costs.
