Nov. 23—COLFAX — A Richland, Washington, man arrested earlier this month for leading deputies on a high-speed chase in Colfax will go to jail.
Derek Adams, 32, pleaded guilty Friday morning in Whitman County Superior Court to attempting to elude a police vehicle and fourth-degree assault. Court Commissioner Douglas Robinson sentenced him to 45 days in jail.
Adams was arrested by Whitman County deputies on Nov. 2 for a chase that exceeded speeds of more than 100 miles per hour and ended in a crash.
A wildlife officer tried to stop a motorcyclist for speeding on Washington State Route 26, according to court records.

The driver did not yield and officers followed the vehicle after entering Colfax. Instead of stopping, Adams reportedly accelerated onto Washington State Route 272.
The chase ended when Adams failed to negotiate a turn and crashed into an adjacent field.
Adams was taken to the hospital for treatment of broken ribs before being booked into the Whitman County Jail.
In court, Adams said he was sorry for exposing officers to the dangers of that pursuit. He also sent a letter of apology to the officers involved.
After serving the sentence, Adams will be taken into the custody of Benton County on several warrants. He is accused of stealing a vehicle in the Tri-Cities area.
