Sabers & Predators emerge as potential trade partners

The Buffalo Sabers are looking to expand their forward group. Looking at their current squad, it is clear that they could use another winger from the top six.

As a result, the Sabers will have to keep a close eye on Nashville Predators winger Gustav Nyquist on the trade market this season.

After making some big strides this past season, the Predators have a record of 5-10-3. If they don’t get things back on track, they will likely be sellers this season. If they become sellers, Nyquist would likely be made available as he is in the final season of his contract.

Nyquist showed last season that he could be a big difference maker when he played at his best. In 81 games in 2023-24, he scored 23 goals and set new career highs with 52 assists and 75 points. Moreover, he has scored at least 20 goals five times in his career, allowing him to put the puck in the net.

Nyquist has had mixed results early this season with the Predators, with five goals and eight points in his first 18 games. However, looking at the extent to which he dominated last season, he undoubtedly has the potential to heat up again. So he could be a nice target for the Sabers to consider.
