The Buffalo Sabers are currently looking to expand their roster through the trade market. That’s understandable, as their start to the season has been shaky and they look to break their 13-year playoff drought.
According to NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, teams have shown interest in Dylan Cozens and Bowen Byram, but Sabers general manager Kevyn Adams has made it abundantly clear that he is not open to parting ways with either player.
This is what Friedman said about this:
“Kevyn Adams says, ‘I want to help my team,’ and people say, ‘Oh, you want to trade Bowen Byram with me? I can help you.’ (Adams) says, ‘Come on, I’m trying to make my team better.’ Another guy he was asked about was Dylan Cozens. I heard there were a few teams. But Adams said, “We’re not interested in that.”
The 23-year-old Byram was acquired by the Sabers from the Colorado Avalanche last season in exchange for Casey Mittelstadt. Since then, Byram has become a key part of the Sabres’ defense, so it’s not shocking at all that Adams doesn’t want to move him. Byram has three goals, nine points and a plus-6 rating in fourteen games this year.
Cozens, 23, has had a quiet start to the season, with two goals, five points and a minus-2 rating in 14 games. While his start to the season has been shaky, it’s easy to see why Adams doesn’t want to move him. The Sabers want to be competitive now and Cozens is one of their best and most promising forwards.
