Sabers Star Cheap shot by Brady Tkachuk

Ottawa Senators star Brady Tkachuk is not only known for his high skill level, but also for his very chippy playing style. This element of his game is a major reason for his success in the NHL, but he went too far in the Senators’ last game against the Buffalo Sabres.

Tkachuk threw a foul hit from behind on Buffalo Sabers forward Jason Zucker during the first period of the Atlantic Division rivals’ game on Jan. 9. Tkachuk was only given a two-minute minor for attacking the play, even though Zucker’s back had been turned for quite some time before the goal.

After receiving Tkachuk’s hit, Zucker was shaken and had to be helped off the ice. Fortunately, Zucker returned to the game afterward.

Sabers defenseman Dennis Gilbert tried to get Tkachuk to fight after the goal, but the Senators captain refused to answer the bell.

It’s good to see that Zucker appears to be in good shape after briefly leaving the game following Tkachuk’s cheap shot. Zucker has been one of the Sabres’ top stars this season, with 15 goals and 31 points in 41 games.
