Morton, Saint Anne’s hospitals join Lifespan as $175 million sale closes
Morton Hospital in Taunton and Saint Anne’s Hospital in Fall River are now part of Lifespan, with the Rhode Island health care provider completing the $175 million purchase of the two hospitals and their buildings on Tuesday.

The Morton addiction unit is abruptly closed due to the Steward crisis
Morton Hospital’s Comprehensive Addiction Program will be closed effective Monday, September 30 due to Steward Health Care’s bankruptcy crisis.
As part of the bankruptcy process, Morton was acquired by Lifespan, a Rhode Island-based nonprofit health care provider, but its addiction unit is not part of the sale, said Julie Pinkham, the executive director of the Massachusetts Nurses Association.

New parking restrictions behind Taunton Town Hall
Restrictions will soon be introduced on parking in the Mill River Parking Lot – the car park behind Taunton Town Hall.
Taunton’s Parking Committee voted to limit parking in the front and rear lots behind City Hall to two hours for all visitors, while city employees were also issued parking stickers and passes indicating their right to park there all day.
