A 17-year-old San Francisco boy was arrested Monday after authorities say he struck a young man with a blunt object at a Moss Beach home.

Officers with the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the home in the 100 block of Barranca Lane in Moss Beach around 2:15 a.m. to investigate reports of an assault. When they arrived, they learned that the teenage suspect had allegedly chased the 18-year-old victim into the house through an open window and began punching him in the head and face, sheriff’s officials said.

A friend of the victim lives in the home and had climbed through her window in an attempt to escape his attacker, whom he knows.

The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment of “significant facial trauma,” sheriff’s officials said. The suspect was taken to the San Mateo County Youth Services Center on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and burglary.
