Oct. 26 – Police are searching for a Maine state representative wanted for alleged aggravated assault.

Sanford police have issued an arrest warrant for state Rep. Lucas Lanigan, police confirmed Saturday.

Lanigan, a Republican, represents the 141st District, which includes parts of Shapleigh, Newfield, Sanford and Springvale.

The alleged attack was “domestic related,” Sanford Police Maj. Mark Dyer said. The investigation is still ongoing, he added.

Lanigan was elected to the House of Representatives in 2022 and is running for re-election against Democrat Patricia Kidder in November. He lives in the Springfield area of ​​Sanford.
