Santa Clara County Superior Court officials are warning residents to be aware of an increase in reported phone scams involving jury service claims.

The Supreme Court said in a news release Wednesday that scammers are using sophisticated tactics, including sending doctored images and impersonating court officials by reciting or displaying fake badge numbers.

The Court reminded county residents that court officials will never ask for sensitive identifying information over the telephone, and that such information, such as addresses or social security numbers, should never be given to a caller.

The court recommended reporting any suspicious communications to the local police fraud unit and contacting your local court’s jury office.

If you have any doubts about the authenticity of a caller, hang up and call the Supreme Court directly.

Anyone who receives a telephone call from someone claiming to be from the Court requesting personal information should report it to ssjuryinfo@scscourt.org.
