SC woman says she cannot quit her job even after winning the top prize of the lottery game

Even though she won the top prize in a lottery game, a Midlands woman complained about still having to continue working, South Carolina Education Lottery officials said in a news release.

“I wish it had been more so I could quit my job,” she joked after winning $250,000 on a scratch-off lottery game.

The woman spent $5 to buy the winning ticket when she finished work, the news release said. The woman said she bought the scratch card game because she was lucky – and she was right.

She bought the six-figure Giant Jumbo Bucks game at the Mini Mart supermarket on South Congress Street in Winnsboro, officials said. That’s near US 321 in Fairfield County.

While she said winning is “exciting and fun,” the woman added that it has made her a little nervous — thinking about the prize money, according to the press release.

The plan for the new windfall is to spend it on her home and save for her child’s education, lottery officials said.

The winner is allowed to retain some privacy, as South Carolina is one of 11 states – along with Arizona, Delaware, Georgia, Kansas, Maryland, New Jersey, North Dakota, Ohio, Texas and Virginia – where lottery winners can remain anonymous. .

According to the publication, the odds of winning the $250,000 top prize in the Giant Jumbo Bucks game were 1 in 960,000. This was the first of the game’s six winning tickets to be claimed, meaning there is still $1,250,000 in unclaimed top prizes available, officials said.

According to the release, the Mini Mart received a $2,500 commission for the sale of the claimed ticket.
