Scholz blasts ‘disgusting’ video of racist chants on holiday island

Chancellor Olaf Scholz has strongly condemned racist chanting by young people outside a pub on the German holiday island of Sylt, which was captured on video.

“It is clear that such slogans are abhorrent and unacceptable,” he said. “There should be no confusion about this. And that is why it is right that all our activities are aimed at preventing this from spreading.”

In the recording that has gone viral, people shout: “Foreigners out!” and “Germany for Germans” can be heard while the popular party song “L’Amour Toujours” by Gigi D’Agostino plays.
