Today BMW unveiled this open-air two-seater based on the 8 series. The Concept Skytop with targa roof was on display at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este in Italy. It is planned to be a hand-built, very limited edition halo car. However, its production has not yet been confirmed. Scroll through for a full set of interior and exterior photos.
Refreshingly, the BMW Concept Skytop has an attractive front view.
The BMW Concept Skytop can be built in a set of as many as 50 pieces, or even more, depending on what the car manufacturer decides.
BMW Concept Skytop has tall metal door handles similar to those of the recent Neue Klasse X show car.
BMW Concept Skytop gets ultra-slim, high-intensity LED headlights.
The lighting is attractively muted.
The top of the Skytop feels more like a sunroof than a traditional convertible top.
The color scheme of the BMW Concept Skytop is subtle terracotta over champagne.
Note the absence of chrome, wood and contrasting stitching in the beautifully finished interior.
It is believed that the BMW Concept Skytop will cost almost $550,000 when it goes into production.
The Stingray-style central spine changes from body color to chrome as it runs the full length of the Skytop.
