Xavier Eugene Dorcely, 22, was arrested Tuesday and is charged with fraud.

Police said in a press release that between October 2023 and June 2024, Dorcely allegedly approached several people on campus posing as a football player. He told his victims he needed help paying their rent and that he would pay them back the next day, which he never did.

Police said surveillance video and license plate readers helped investigators build a case that took months of investigation. Dorcely reportedly used several different cars and names on campus, so it took police some time to figure out who he was.

Dorcey is being held in the Seminole County Jail.
