Honolulu-based Servco Pacific Inc., one of the 15 largest auto dealer groups in the U.S., today completed a deal to acquire the Hilo and Kona locations on Big Island Toyota.
Since the purchase agreement was first announced in June, Servco and Big Island Toyota have completed the Board of Land and Natural Resources’ conditions for approval of the lease transfer of the Hilo location and have been authorized to operate and sell vehicles at both Big Island Toyota locations.
“We are humbled and honored that the DeLuz family has entrusted us with their business,” said Mark Fukunaga, executive chairman of the Servco Pacific board of directors, in a statement. “As a family-owned business, we can’t wait to welcome the Big Island Toyota team to the Servco ʻohana.”
Big Island Toyota has more than 100 employees across two locations. It has operated for more than 65 years under the vision of its three late founders: David S. DeLuz Sr., John Correira and Tatsuo “Baldy” Higashi.
In the coming weeks, Servco and Big Island Toyota will continue to work with their teams and each other to ensure a smooth transition.
Founded in 1919 by Peter Fukunaga, Servco Pacific has grown into Hawaii’s largest privately held family-owned business. Big Island Toyota and Servco have been long-term business partners since 1966.
