Several Palestinians were killed in clashes during an Israeli military operation in the West Bank on Thursday, according to Israeli and Palestinian reports.
The Israeli army reported two deaths during a counter-terrorism operation in a village near the city of Jenin. The Health Ministry in Ramallah confirmed one death and said the 21-year-old man had been shot in the head. Palestinian media reported that a total of three people were killed in the army attack.
Israeli soldiers fired rockets at a house and then destroyed it with a bulldozer, Palestinian news agency WAFA said. Clashes broke out and Israeli forces fired live rounds.
Israeli media said Israeli security forces exchanged fire with Palestinian militants and that the two dead were wanted by Israel, although no reason was given.
The Israeli army carries out repeated raids on Jenin, which is seen as a stronghold of Palestinian militancy.
Since the start of the war in Gaza in October, more than 520 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli military operations, confrontations or own attacks in the West Bank, according to the Health Ministry.
Since the outbreak of the conflict, there has also been an increase in violence by Israeli settlers against Palestinians.
