A man suspected of being part of a burglary crew allegedly linked to commercial burglaries in San Francisco was arrested and hospitalized last week after jumping from a freeway overpass while trying to flee, police said .

San Francisco police released details Thursday about the incident, which occurred in the early morning hours of Nov. 7. Shortly after 2:10 a.m., Bayview Station officers were called to a liquor store on the 700 block of 22nd Street on reports. of a burglary in progress.

When police arrived, they determined that multiple suspects entered the store and took merchandise and cash. The suspects fled in several vehicles.

Police found one of the suspect vehicles on northbound Highway 101. Officers attempted to stop traffic, but the vehicle did not yield.

Officers did not pursue the vehicle, but later located a solo vehicle crash on Highway 101 near the 7th Street exit. Police determined that it was the same suspect vehicle and saw a suspect jump from the overpass.

The man landed about 40 feet lower, near 15th Street and Vermont Street, according to officers.

The police have taken the man into custody. He was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries as a result of the fall. The man’s identity has not been released.

Detectives seized a loaded firearm and stolen property. The investigation also revealed that the vehicles used in the burglary had been stolen.

Police said Thursday that the suspect has been charged with three separate burglaries after linking him to two additional incidents that occurred earlier that evening in Ingleside and Mission counties.

Officers are looking for more suspects in this case.
