Cellphone video captured a Monday morning encounter between a San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputy and a person who was reportedly near Metrolink tracks on Nevada Street in Redlands.

The video shows the deputy pointing a gun at the person, and after some time the person extends his arms and quickly walks toward the officer when the shooting occurred.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said officers responded around 7:30 a.m. to a person entering the Nevada Street Metrolink, where “a deadly force encounter occurred.” The person was taken to the hospital for treatment, but the deputy was not injured.
