A shooting at the Powell Street BART station in San Francisco has forced the station to close, authorities said.

The San Francisco Fire Department said it responded to a report of a shooting at the station at 10:34 a.m. and that police found one victim. The victim was taken to San Francisco General Hospital in stable condition, the fire department said.

A social media post from the fire department said a crew was at the station “for a traumatic injury,” and people were asked to avoid the area around 5th and Market Streets.

The main entrance to the station has been cordoned off as a crime scene and San Francisco Police Department officers are still on the scene.
