Oct. 14 – The St. Joseph School District will continue discussions on a new superintendent during Monday’s board meeting at the Troester Media Center.
During the meeting, the Missouri School Board Association (MSBA) will present the results of a community survey and focus groups.
The survey generated 673 responses from parents, teachers, community members, staff, students and more.
Some strengths as identified by the community include dedicated faculty and staff, a student-centered focus, and the Hillyard Technical Center.
“Our district is connected to local businesses and makes our schools feel part of the larger community,” said one pollster, according to the results document.
On the other hand, community perception, student recruitment and retention, and student behavior and attendance were all challenges the district faces, according to survey participants.
As a result, the results show that it is important for the community to have an approachable and accessible Superintendent who demonstrates integrity and ethics.
The board will discuss these results further Monday evening to develop a job description tailored to the needs of the community.
Applications for the position open on October 16. Visit the district website for complete survey results.
