NEWARK, NJ — A small plane veered off the runway Thursday after landing at Newark Liberty International Airport, causing delays for travelers flying to and from New Jersey.

Video from the scene shows emergency vehicles surrounding the aircraft on the runway and commercial aircraft taxiing in the background.

“A wing of a private plane was damaged after landing at Newark Liberty International Airport at approximately 1:50 p.m. A pilot and one passenger were on board; no injuries were reported. The runway remains closed for an investigation into the incident. Flights arriving and departing Newark may be delayed during the investigation,” said the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which operates the airport.

The Federal Aviation Administration said: “The FAA temporarily suspended some flights to Newark Liberty International Airport because a private Embraer business jet went off the runway after landing. This resulted in the runway closure, reducing the airport’s arrival capacity .”

A message on the airport’s website warned travelers: “Flights to and from #EWR [are] experiencing delays. Please contact your airline for flight status.”
