State police are investigating crash near Pymatuning State Park that left a man dead early Saturday

MEADVILLE – Pennsylvania State Police are investigating a traffic accident Saturday morning near Pymatuning State Park in western Crawford County that left a 47-year-old man dead.

The crash was reported shortly before 2 a.m. Saturday on East Lake Road in South Shenango Township, north of Jamestown.

According to state police in Meadville, a 2009 Honda Pilot was traveling south on East Lake Road at a high rate of speed when it went out of control on a curve and struck an embankment and trees before rolling about 200 feet. The driver was thrown from the car, officers said.

Crawford County Coroner Eric Coston said the driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:15 a.m. Saturday. He identified the man Monday as Edward J. Lipps, who he said lived in Jamestown.
