The stock market took another step higher following the release of the minutes of the December Federal Open Market Committee meeting, but struggled to hold on.
The S&P 500 rose 0.2% after giving up an earlier gain in the wake of the minutes. The Dow Jones rose 90 points, or 0.2%. The Nasdaq Composite rose 0.1%. Stocks have been on the move all afternoon, although the major indexes haven’t fallen far or posted only meager gains.
The yield on the 2-year government bond fell to 4.291%. The 10-year yield rose to 4.706%.
