Stolen vehicle suspects disperse after South LA chase

CBS News Los Angeles

Officers are on the hunt for a suspect driving a suspected stolen vehicle near South Los Angeles.

It is unclear what prompted the chase.

As SkyCal flew overhead, a huge stream of sparks could be seen behind the car. The car looked like a white Kia.

The car continued in the westbound lane of the 91 Freeway because of the blown tire, eventually stopping at the Santa Fe Avenue exit, where three people got out and ran onto the shoulder.

The suspects then scattered, running through buses and across public roads.

While officers were searching for the suspects, the car caught fire and a large plume of smoke rose into the air.

Firefighters arrived on scene to extinguish the flames, but the incident caused a huge traffic jam.

At approximately 8:20 p.m., officers reported that all three suspects had been located and arrested.
