Marriott hotel workers have reached a tentative agreement on a new contract and will vote Thursday on whether to ratify the deal.

About 1,500 members of the workers’ union employed by Marriot were expected to vote on the new agreement on Thursday between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Officials with the UNITE HERE Local 2 union said the deal was reached Wednesday evening. They noted that the proposed four-year contract maintains employees’ health insurance plan, includes wage increases and protects against understaffing and increases in workload.

The deal would end strike activity at the San Francisco Marriott Union Square on Sutter Street, the Palace Hotel on New Montgomery Street, the San Francisco Marriott Marquis on Mission Street and the Westin St. Francis on Powell Street.

Hotel staff in San Francisco have been notable over the past three months since the strike began on September 22. Workers even protested loudly in Union Square walking the picket lines in effect on Thanksgiving Day.

Earlier this month, employees urged attendees planning to come to the JP Morgan Healthcare Conference next month at the Westin St. Francis Hotel to skip the event.

About a thousand hotel workers from Hilton and Hyatt are still on strike. Union
