Stripper says new Florida law violates her rights, sues attorney general

A 19-year-old stripper is suing the state after she lost her job.

Serenity Bushey worked at Cafe Risqué outside Gainesville until this month.

In a 50-page complaint, she claims that a new law raising the minimum age for her profession cost her her job and now violates her right to free speech.

She writes that at least 8 other artists at Cafe Risqué also lost their jobs because of the new law.

Governor Ron DeSantis signed HB 7063 earlier this year, which prohibits anyone under the age of 21 from working in adult entertainment establishments.

According to lawmakers, it is intended to combat human trafficking.
