Stuck wires suspend select Amtrak, NJ Transit rail service in Philadelphia, New Jersey, New York

Downed wires have suspended Amtrak and New Jersey Transit service, impacting Sunday morning travelers in Philadelphia, New Jersey and New York.

An alert from Amtrak states: “Due to downed overhead power lines blocking the tracks, service between Philadelphia and New York is temporarily suspended. Amtrak personnel are on site. The estimated time for service to resume is 10:00 a.m.”

Once service resumes, Amtrak says customers whose reservations were affected will typically be accommodated with trains at similar departure times or on a different day.

This will also impact service on New Jersey Transit’s Atlantic City Rail Line. The agency said service between Cherry Hill and 30th Street Station in Philadelphia is currently suspended due to the downed Amtrak overhead wire. Train tickets and passes will be honored by PATCO and replacement bus service will be offered between Cherry Hill and 30th Street Station.
