Sunday shooting on Lane Avenue sends man to hospital

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office responded to a shots fired call on Normandy Boulevard on Sunday around 2:45 p.m.

Police said a man was at a red light on Lane Ave South when several suspects pulled up in another car and shot at the victim.

The victim stepped on the gas to get away. He lost his front bumper after hitting the curb and ended up at a nearby Care Spot Urgent Care building on Normandy Boulevard.

The victim was driving this purple Nissan. After the shooting, the rear window of the car was broken, the tires were punctured and the airbag deployed.

Rebecca Faulk lives nearby and said she couldn’t believe this would happen.

“It’s very sad,” she said. “It happens more and more in daylight; they are not even afraid anymore.”

Action News Jax first told you on Saturday when there was a shooting with similar circumstances. Saturday’s shooting involved a purple Nissan with multiple bullet holes, which also ended up near a Care Spot Emergency Department building. Two people, including a teenager, drove there for treatment. This happened on Argyle Forest Boulevard, about 9 miles away from Sunday’s shooting.

Sergeant Scott of the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said, “There is nothing connected to any other shootings at this time, but we are early in this investigation. That could change.”

The suspects in both shootings are still on the run.

The victim of Sunday’s shooting suffered several gunshot wounds but is in stable condition.
