The most expensive WNBA game ever, Sunday’s Fever-Sky game, originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago
Round 3 of the entertaining Midwest matchup between the Chicago Sky and Indiana Fever is the most expensive WNBA game ever, according to used ticket marketplace TickPick.
According to TickPick, the average purchase price of the game is $271, which is 207% higher than Sky’s average purchase price of $88 this season. They also noted that the entry fee for Sunday’s game is $249. The most expensive ticket currently available currently costs $9,131.
The prices of these tickets are calculated without additional buyer costs. These are all-in prices.
Both teams made headlines after their first game in Indiana. The Fever escaped by one point, but not before Chennedy Carter and Angel Reese both made cheap shots on Caitlin Clark during the match.
“They’re just competing. All they’re doing is competing,” Sky head coach Teresa Weatherspoon said at a press conference after the match. The team largely declined to answer any questions about Clark.
During their most recent match last Sunday, the same thing happened again. This time, Reese was called for a flagrant foul she committed against Clark. Reese claims she didn’t cross the line during a basketball game against Clark.
“I can’t control the officials and obviously they affected the game a lot tonight,” Reese said after finishing with 11 points, 13 rebounds and five assists in that game. “You’re probably going to play that clip twenty times before Monday.”
Clark shrugged off the encounter and said she focused largely on making the free throws that followed.
“It is what it is, you know, she’s trying to play the ball and get the ball,” Clark said after finishing with 23 points, nine assists and eight rebounds in that game. “I mean, it happens and then those free throws when you have to shoot when no one is on the line, it’s kind of difficult. So I just focused on making those free throws.
The ongoing heated Clark-Reese rivalry has spilled over from the national stages of collegiate basketball to the professional level. Between that and the fact that both matches between the Fever and Sky were incredibly close, it makes for a highly anticipated Round 3 on Sunday.
This is the first time Clark and the Fever will play in Chicago this season. The match will take place at 3:00 PM (CT) and will be broadcast on ESPN.
