Sunny and dry Tuesday in the Philadelphia area, but rain chances increase later this week

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — We ended the long weekend in the Philadelphia region with mostly sunny skies, a light breeze and temperatures ranging from 70 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit.

Expect the winds to die down a bit overnight, with clear skies and lows in the 50s for the city and coast. Farther north, however, lows will be in the 40s for the Lehigh Valley and the Poconos.

The sun will shine brightly on Tuesday, helping afternoon temperatures climb back into the mid 70s. Wednesday will see another cool and crisp morning with a sunny and mild afternoon.

A little more warmth will begin to return in the second half of the week, but temperatures will still be near or slightly cooler than normal with highs in the low 80s Wednesday through Thursday. No rain is expected for most of the week.

No rain is expected until Thursday, but cloud cover will increase on Friday.

Friday late afternoon into the evening is when our next system comes in. An approaching low pressure area from the Mid-Atlantic will meet a cold front from the west.

This means there is a reasonable chance of rain from Friday evening through Sunday. Clearings are expected behind the system early next week.
