Sunny skies in Philadelphia region Monday, warming up for July 4

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — We’re tracking a few remaining showers and rumbles tonight, mainly over the Jersey Shore. For now, the serious threat is over, after dumping inches and inches of rain on the coast Sunday morning. The afternoon brought us severe storms, with gusty winds, more flash flooding and lots of lightning and thunder.

The reward after all that is a much nicer Monday, with sunny skies from start to finish, low humidity and a light northwest wind. Highs Monday will be in the upper 70s to low 80s.

We will continue that trend on Tuesday and Wednesday, with slightly warmer temperatures and mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies.

We will warm back up to near 90 degrees on Wednesday with partly sunny skies.

For the 4th of July, Thursday will be muggy and warm with highs in the low 90s and a wind chill near 100. A heat warning and NEXT Weather Alert may still be in effect for Thursday. Showers and storms are also possible for the holiday on Thursday, although these could be very widespread. Don’t cancel any plans at this point, but definitely keep an eye on the sky.
