Surveillance footage shows deadly attack on Seattle chef

In May, local Seattle chef Corey Bellett was stabbed to death at the Capitol Hill light rail station.

On Monday, KIRO 7 News obtained surveillance footage of the violent attack.

Corey Bellett, 37, was touched by a 26-year-old man at the tram station just before 6 p.m. on May 11.

According to court documents, they soon began fighting. The man, later identified as Shawn Patrick Moore, is seen in the video pulling out what appears to be a knife and brutally stabbing Bellett.

He was so badly injured that neither the Good Samaritans nor the doctors could save him.

“And he never regained consciousness in the ER,” said his mother, Karla. “It was really hard.”

The suspect remains in the King County Jail on $3 million bail.

Karla says they’re most worried about Corey’s new bride. They plan to open their own restaurant together someday, so they’ve set up a GoFundMe account for her.
