SAN MATEO – Police arrested a shooting suspect in San Mateo Thursday afternoon after one person was injured by gunfire.
The shooting was reported in the area of East Hillsdale Boulevard and South Norfolk Street in San Mateo around 4:45 p.m.
The shooting victim was found in nearby San Carlos after being driven from the scene, police said. The victim was taken to a trauma center, but their condition was unknown.
There had also been reports of a shooting victim in Millbrae, but police determined the incident was not related to the San Mateo shooting.
“While all of this was unfolding, SMPD was able to locate the apartment where our suspect had fled and was able to negotiate a surrender. That individual was taken into custody,” police said in an advisory.
A shelter in place for the area was lifted around 7:30 p.m
