Suspect arrested in Denton shooting that left one person dead and another injured, police say

A suspect has been arrested in connection with an early Saturday morning shooting that left one man injured and another dead, according to Denton police.

Riley Clowers, 24, of Denton was arrested without incident in Sanger on Saturday. He is accused of murder.

Detectives determined that Clowers, as well as the unidentified man killed in the shooting, approached the male victim while sitting in a pickup truck in the 3200 block of West Windsor Drive.

The unknown man got into the truck with a firearm and the driver tried to drive away, according to an investigation. A struggle ensued in the truck over the firearm, during which both the driver and the unknown man were shot, police said.

Clowers is charged with murder after investigators determined he presented a weapon during an aggravated assault, leading to the unidentified man’s death.

The investigation is ongoing.
