October 4 – At approximately 6:12 a.m. on October 4, Corsicana Telecommunicators dispatched officers to the Quick Track convenience store at 1451 W. 2nd Avenue in reference to an aggravated robbery that had just occurred.
The reporting party stated that the suspect was armed with a gun and also provided the direction of travel of the fleeing suspect. Responding officers arrived on scene within two minutes.
During an initial search of the area, officers saw a male person who matched the suspect’s description. The suspect fled and climbed a fence leading to the parking lot of the dialysis center, located at 1321 W. Second Ave. Officers quickly subdued the suspect and placed him in custody.
A search of the immediate area led to the recovery of evidence linking the suspect to the crime. Officers recovered a loaded handgun, which had previously been reported stolen in this jurisdiction.
This event happened quickly. From the time the call was sent to the time the suspect was taken into custody was three minutes. The Corsicana police were very happy that no one was injured during this event.
Corsicana Police Chief Robert Johnson would like to recognize the outstanding team effort that led to this quick arrest: Telecommunicator Ashley Van Eyck, Chief Ron McGaha, Sgt. Mark Nanny, Cpl. Scott Tidwell, Officers Kris Waltrowski, Jonathan Barrentine, Miguel Rodriguez and Detective Sergio Palacios. Their immediate and targeted response was critical to the rapid arrest of a dangerous, armed criminal.
