A man suspected of killing another man with a machete in downtown Los Angeles is still at large after the attack on Friday.

Investigators believe the two men got into an argument before one of them pulled out a gun and attacked the other, the LAPD said. It’s unclear what other circumstances led up to the deadly attack or whether the suspect and victim knew each other.

Los Angeles Fire Department emergency responders arrived on the scene and rushed the victim to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Meanwhile, the suspected killer fled the scene, running west on East 6th Street, LAPD said. The area is right next to Skid Row in the Central City East section of downtown L.A.

As of 8 a.m., he appears to still be at large as detectives continue their investigation.

Footage from the scene, while officers were still investigating, shows several patrol cars and officers in the middle of the street, with a stretch of sidewalk along a graffiti-covered wall surrounded by police tape.

No further details have been released by the LAPD.
