Suspect in UnitedHealthcare shooting charged with murder

The suspect in the shooting of UnitedHealthcare’s CEO was charged with intentional homicide in New York criminal court on Monday following his arrest at a McDonald’s in a small Pennsylvania town.

Documents filed by the New York City district attorney’s office showed that Luigi Mangione, 26, was charged with five counts. In addition to the murder charge, the charges include three firearms charges and one count of forging a document.

He reportedly suffered from debilitating back pain. According to American media, a document condemning health care was found among his belongings. Reports say he came from a prominent Maryland family, had bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Pennsylvania, and had been a lead advisor at a Stanford University pre-college program.
