Tampa Police Make Arrest in Connection with Fatal Copeland Park Shooting

Tampa police have arrested a 30-year-old man in connection with a fatal shooting last month in Copeland Park on N. 15th Street.

Jerome Parker is charged with first-degree murder, authorities said. Police have not publicly identified the victim in the case. They described him as a man in his early 20s.

The shooting followed an argument over a pack of socks just after 7 p.m. on Aug. 9, investigators said. Parker and the victim did not know each other, Tampa police said.

According to the department, a witness told officers that the man who was shot found the socks on the ground and that the two got into an argument after Parker accused the man of stealing the socks from him.
