Teddie Peanut Butter beer, a fundraising collaboration with Night Shift Brewing in Everett

EVERETT — Two neighboring businesses just four miles north of Boston are bringing together peanut butter and beer for a good cause.

Teddie Peanut Butter in Everett, Massachusetts has been producing its all-natural product since the Great Depression. They have been located on Santilli Highway since 1960. Across the street is another well-known company: Night Shift Brewing.

“For years we had the scent of Teddie Peanut Butter hanging across the street in our taproom,” Michael Oxton, co-founder of Night Shift, told WBZ-TV.

“It’s a big part of the community. The football team practices next door, so they grow up smelling Teddie Peanut Butter. It’s literally part of the community,” said Mark Nazarian, director of sales and marketing for Teddie .

What is peanut butter beer?

The two companies decided to enter into a partnership and donate part of the profits to charity. Oxton said peanut butter and its oils are difficult to incorporate into the brewing process.

“We took 35-pound buckets and our head brewer takes them, he works them into the mash and basically just spoons them in,” he told WBZ.

“Once they figured out how to make it, they approached us not long after with their Share the Night series, where a dollar from each four-pack goes to a charity of your choice. For us, it was a no-brainer. We chose the Greater Boston Food Bank,” Nazarian said.

“You open the Teddie Beer and the fizz of that Teddie Peanut Butter, freshly roasted peanuts, it comes right at you. It’s like drinking a Teddie Peanut Butter sandwich. It doesn’t get any better than that,” Nazarian told WBZ. .

The limited edition beer’s official tasting notes feature rich flavors of cocoa and roasted peanut butter, and there are even two different versions to suit your peanut butter preference. Teddie Beer is for lovers of smooth flavors, while Teddie Super Chunky is for, you guessed it, chunky peanut butter lovers.

“I’d say Teddie drinks beer, especially Teddie beer. Teddie is just a regular guy,” Nazarian said.
