Three people, including a teenager, have been arrested on multiple charges following a recent shooting, according to Columbia police.

Maalik Corley, 19, Demarco Gleaton, 23, and Ma’ziya Mills, 23, were charged for their roles in connection with an investigation into an attempted murder and armed robbery on Aug. 17, police said in a news release Wednesday evening.

In August, Mills asked a man — who police called the victim — to meet her on Ripplemeyer Avenue, the news release said. Mills made the invitation even though he knew Corley and Gleaton were going to commit crimes, police said.

The victim was approached by Corley and Gleaton, who broke into his car and stole items, according to the release.

The victim ran away, but Corley and Gleaton chased him, then held him at gunpoint and attacked him, police said. When the victim tried to defend himself, Corley shot him, the release said. The victim was not struck by gunfire, police said.

Information about the victim’s condition was not available.

No other injuries were reported.

When Corley was arrested Tuesday, he was charged with attempted murder, armed robbery, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, auto burglary, robbery and conspiracy, jail records show. Although bond was set at $2,125 on the theft charge, bond was denied on the remaining charges and Corley is currently incarcerated at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center, according to jail records.

Gleaton was taken into custody Wednesday and charged with armed robbery, first-degree assault and battery, auto burglary, theft and conspiracy, jail records show. Like Corley, Gleaton had posted a $2,125 bond on the theft charge but was denied bond on the other counts, and he remains behind bars, according to jail records.

When Columbia police arrested Corley and Gleaton, officers seized a handgun that the release said was stolen from Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Mills was arrested Tuesday and charged with conspiracy, accessory after the fact to a felony and accessory after the fact to a felony, jail records show. Bond was set at $75,000 on Mills’ combined charges, and she remains currently incarcerated, according to jail records.

Corley, Gleaton and Mills will all be back in court on Dec. 13, Richland County court records show.
