Police are investigating a shooting that left a 15-year-old boy dead and another teen injured early Wednesday morning in Hayward.
Hayward police said they were alerted around 2 a.m. Wednesday to a report of a shooting near the 24000 block of Second Street. When they arrived on scene, officers found an unconscious man with gunshot wounds.
The victim was later pronounced dead at the scene. He was identified as a 15-year-old resident of the census-designated town of Rodeo in Contra Costa County.
Around 2:15 a.m., officers learned of another shooting that went to a local medical facility for treatment. He was identified as a 13-year-old male resident of Hayward.
Police say he is in critical but stable condition.

According to police, this is Hayward’s fifth murder this year.
