After a warm, wet and windy day, we now move on to the next part of the weather story: the big cold. A massive drop in temperatures will blanket the entire Philadelphia region, especially considering winds will still exceed 20 miles per hour during the day on Thursday.
This keeps the wind chill around 20 degrees all day (and even in some teens). If you go from your mid-60s to your mid-20s in a 24-hour period, you’re definitely going to take a big hit if you spend any time outside. In the coming days it will be time to put away the umbrella and rain boots and bring out the thick coats and all the winter gear.
The weekend looks to be mixed with mostly sunny skies and cold conditions on Saturday and more clouds and a chance of rain on Sunday. Highs will be in the 40s on Saturday and 50 on Sunday. Next week temperatures will likely return to the mid 50s with more rain chances.
Speaking of rain, after the 1 inch or so around the Philly area on Wednesday, we are still in extreme drought across much of our area, so hopefully we will continue to see more shower activity in the coming weeks.
