A 19-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the death of her 73-year-old landlord that occurred in a White Center apartment.
Friday around 7:15 p.m., King County deputies responded to calls about a homicide at an apartment building in the 9800 block of 15th Avenue Southwest in the White Center area of ​​Unincorporated King County.
According to initial appearance documents, the suspect was behind on rent and her landlord was in another room when she asked the suspect about rent payments. The suspect told investigators that her landlord punched her in the face and that the suspect then punched her in the back and stabbed her twice. After almost 50 minutes, the suspect called her sister to tell her what she had done. The suspect’s brother-in-law called 911 and said “she killed someone” after the suspect showed her sister the victim’s body over a video call.
911 operators then called the suspect with information from her sister, but she denied everything and claimed to be in another city with friends.
After being further questioned by the 911 operator, the suspect said, “Yes…she tried to hit me, and I stabbed her.”
When officers arrived, they found a deceased woman in one of the rooms of the home.
After being read her Miranda rights, the suspect confessed to killing her landlord.
The 19-year-old was taken to a Burien police station to be questioned by a detective and was ultimately booked into the King County Jail on suspicion of murder.
Detectives from the Major Crimes Unit are conducting the investigation.
The King County Medical Examiner will release the victim’s name, cause of death and manner of death.
