MINNEAPOLIS — Thousands are expected to attend the Twin Cities in downtown Minneapolis Pride Parade late Sunday morning.
The parade, which begins at 11 a.m., starts at Third Street and Hennepin Avenue. The parade route takes the parade down Hennepin and ends at Spruce Place. The parade ends around 2 p.m.
There will be several stands along the parade route, including an accessibility stand that will ensure everyone can enjoy the festival. This stand will have an interpreter, wheelchair seating and an ADA restroom.
Meanwhile, the Pride festival continues until 6pm in Loring Park.
Pride organizer J’Kalein Madison says this year the theme is ‘Pride 365’, an ode to living as your true self, all year round.
“Pride isn’t just one month out of the year, you are who you are all year long, all 365 days,” Madison said. “I’m so excited to see all the different walks of life. Everyone is living their true selves in this park this weekend.”
Madison says many in the LGBTQ+ community are coming to the celebration with heavy hearts, as they mourn the loss of a prominent DJ in the Twin Cities community, a trans woman named Liar Tsaiwho was murdered a weekend ago by a former partner.
