EVANSVILLE – Access to a major road at a busy intersection in West Side Evansville is being reopened as work continues on the Lloyd Expressway.
The Indiana Department of Transportation announced it will reopen Pearl Drive at the intersection with Red Bank Road “on or after” Tuesday. It was closed while crews moved a water main.
The Red Bank work will now take place just south of Pearl Drive, closing that portion of the roadway for approximately 15 days, INDOT said in a news release Monday.
The project is just one of many involved in the massive overhaul of Evansville’s main artery. New paving, bridge reconstruction and intersection changes have slowed traffic on the West Side. Farther east, crews have removed the traffic light at Vann Avenue and have begun work around Stockwell Road.
By the time the work is completed in 2028, more than twenty Lloyd intersections will undergo everything from minor adjustments to complete reworks.
