BOSTON – A museum in downtown Boston is taking interactive art to a whole new level with an immersive experience for visitors.
“Restore that childish wonder”
“We would like to revive that childlike wonder and that is a feeling when you are a child and the ice cream truck stops, you know that exciting feeling,” said Giancarlo Natale, the general director of the WNDR Museum. “We’re rekindling that as adults and also as children throughout the museum here.”
The WNDR Museum focuses on immersive art and a walkthrough brings the senses to life. The first guide for visitors is the illuminated floor.
“It’s a wow factor, it’s the first thing everyone sees when you walk through our experience and it’s interactive, fun, colorful and has lots of mirrors,” Natale said. “Everyone loves a big mirror.”
The installations are interactive and meant to be felt and touched.
“In the classical museum you have paintings on the walls and installations on the walls,” Natale said. “This way you can actually interact with and be part of our art. So it’s a really cool feature.”
Interactive and AI art
There is even an exhibition where visitors find themselves in the middle of a weather event.
“Imagine sitting in a gazebo where a crazy storm is happening and it’s great that we can show this feeling to our guests,” Natale said. “This is a truly stunning installation because of the amazing ability to experience it both indoors and outdoors.”
The art museum also has unique features, such as teaching yoga and iris art, where the artists use your eye as a muse. There’s even AI-generated art, where visitors type their name and get an image of what the AI thinks they look like.
“It’s amazing, there’s nothing more beautiful than seeing people smile when you’re working,” Natale said. “I think it’s a great feature.”
