The Brockton Fire Department responds to a house fire

There was a house fire in Brockton on Sunday that prompted firefighters to respond.

Crews were dispatched to 44 Thompson Avenue at 8:17 a.m. for reports of a heavy fire in a multi-story home.

When crews arrived, they noticed the fire was coming from the back of the house and extended from the basement to the attic.

Crews were able to extinguish the fire within 20 minutes, causing approximately $50,000 worth of damage to the home.

Initial investigations indicate that the fire was caused by a hot tub, but investigations are still underway.

No injuries were reported, but due to the temperature, icy conditions developed and several firefighters suffered minor injuries from slipping, but were not taken to hospital.

This is a development story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
